For two archaeologists this was a great place to stay.  Loved your little bits of history and the mini museum you have in the back yard.  Good on you!  Nowdays people renovate the *#$#* out of places and throw out all the good stuff.  We considered pegging out a dig in your back yard but were not sure you'd like it that much - pity!  Thanks for having us stay.  Loved the bed - it was above comfortable.

Four friends who travel together often were lucky enough to stay at your wonderful cottage for our Broken Hill adventure and we are still
patting Richard on the back for choosing 'Ella's Place' for us!  It was so very comfortable and  cosy, and there was not one thing we could think of that you didn't provide.  Us ladies were very happy with all the little touches that made it really beautiful and the way it has been restored is a credit to you.  Glad you kept the historical side when adding the modern necessities!  We adored Broken Hill and will be back at Ella's sometime in the next few years.

“The most charming cottage ever!”

I admire the way the owners have renovated this cottage and given it new life!!! This place has it all: comfort, charm, quirkiness, a retro feel, lots of thoughtful extras: books, magazines, antiques, luxurious bedlinen, sunny backyard, and for animal lovers: even comes with a stray cat! 

We felt like visiting a long lost auntie, who has lovingly prepared for our visit, rather than walking into a "holiday rental". This also appealed to my boys, aged 15 and 17. They went on a discovery tour around the house and appreciated the many wonderful touches of the life of "yesteryear" without missing out on any modern comforts, such as TV, DVDs, electric blankets and superb heating! 

This cottage is in a quiet lane amidst other quirky cottages, which makes you feel right at home. We stayed for 6 nights and went to all the museums and galleries in Broken Hill and spent a lovely day in Silverton and another day in Mutawintji National Park. Broken Hill is a very interesting town if you take the time to stay a while. If you are fussy, you'll find everything you could ever wish for. If you are not fussy (which we aren't), you'll be in seventh heaven.  We give it 5 stars!

We had a great time in your beautiful cottage.  It was really cold at night but we were so warm and cosy inside - lovely!  We were amazed at your 'museum' historical pieces, especially the books (did you realise that some are first editions?) and the artifacts in the garden. Good that we could walk up to the shops for our lunchtime fish and chips and be back in a few minutes to sit in the sun and enjoy them.  Thank you for this lovely stay and thanks again for the discount for the kids.  We will tell all our friends about Ella's!  It will be a 'conversation piece' for quite a few dinner parties!

When you travel extensively you can judge accommodation with a fair degree of experience.  Henry, your cottage would be among the best three we have stayed at.  You have provided everything your guests may require from very comfortable beds (a must - and the pillows were hotel quality) to lovely outdoor settings to cooking supplies.  We almost OD'd on the grapes and took some bunches home with us as well.  I can see why you make wine!  We really enjoyed Ella's cottage - there was not one thing we could think of that was not supplied.  Keep up the standards you've set and you'll do very well.

Well what a lovely surprise!  We expected Broken Hill and the cottage to be a bit too 'country' for us but we were pleasantly surprised with the comfort and style of the cottage and the friendliness of the Broken Hill people.  We actually wished we had more time with you all as we would have liked to properly 'settle in', but work calls.  Thanks for a great stay! We hope to visit you again when we have more time.

We didn't know what to expect.  Would it be what we thought we had booked?  AND YES,IT WAS!  Thank you, thank you!    We loved the history, the comfort, the closeness to shops, the quiet at night (you could hear a pin drop) and the sitting out the back for a QLD (quiet little drink) after a day out.  All in all we had a great time in a beautiful cottage.  Good value for money too. Thanks guys!

** Wow, what a beautiful cottage! Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas stay. The cottage was clean and fresh, in a quiet location and close the shopping centre and supplied with lots of Christmas goodies. As for the roll top bath - fantastic! We loved it so much we want to come back next Christmas!
